Bandshell LIVE

A centerpiece of the Illuminate LIVE citywide music program, Bandshell LIVE is a yearlong series of free live music events at the Bandshell in Golden Gate Park.

The 2024 series, which kicked off in March included more than 125 concerts – all free and open to the public. The lineup of performers is diverse and talented, featuring R&B, soul, jazz, funk, big band musicians, string ensembles, indie and psychedelic rock bands, and many diverse singer-songwriters. In addition, the series included reggae, salsa, plus EDM and electronic music. 

The weekly calendar for the Bandshell:

Wednesdays (4-7pm) – Singer/Songwriter
Fridays  (4:30-7pm) – Happy Hour
Sundays – (4:20-7:30pm) – Crucial Reggae Sundays

These events take place at the refurbished Golden Gate Bandshell, which Illuminate fully renovated with nearly $1M in upgrades in 2020. The accessible, expanded stage is complemented by an extraordinary Meyer Sound system and state-of-the art lighting. The Bandshell now offers a premier experience for performers and fans.

This live performance series, started in 2021, is a partnership of Illuminate, the Independent Distribution Collective, and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
