Pink Torch Procession

Mayor Libby Schaaf joined Oakland Pride head Joe Hawkins at Oakland City Hall to kick-off a day-long Pink Torch Procession through Oakland and San Francisco - a spiritual lead up to the evening lighting on Saturday, June 27.

Escorted by the iconic Dykes on Bikes, more than three dozen key LGBTQ figures carried a beautifully-crafted pink torch by Looking Up Arts, throughout Oakland and San Francisco on it’s way up to Twin Peaks. This marked this first-ever joint event involving both Oakland Pride and SF Pride.

At the close of the Procession, San Francisco Mayor London Breed officially lit the triangle, which will remain illuminated until July 10.
