Civic Center Soundtrack Returns for its 3rd Season

MAYOR LURIE ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON OF FREE LIVE MUSIC, FOOD TRUCKS IN CIVIC CENTER

Third Annual Free Concert Series Transforms Fulton Plaza Into Vibrant Gathering Space

Continues Mayor Lurie’s Work to Drive San Francisco’s Comeback Through Arts, Culture, Entertainment

SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today announced the return of the Civic Center Soundtrack concert series for its third annual season of free live music. The season will kick off at Fulton Plaza on Tuesday, April 14, with concerts taking place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. through October. The concerts will bring new performances and, for the first time, a rotating lineup of food trucks, creating a vibrant and welcoming lunchtime hub in the heart of San Francisco.

“From Golden Gate Park to Civic Center, we are bringing music, energy, and community back to our public spaces,” said Mayor Lurie. “I’m thrilled to welcome Civic Center Soundtrack back for a third season, transforming Fulton Plaza into an exciting destination for live music, local artists, and great food. This series will bring people together, activate one of our great public spaces, and continue to drive San Francisco’s downtown comeback.”

Funded and produced by Illuminate, the Civic Center Soundtrack is a partnership between the arts nonprofit, the San Francisco Public Library, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and the Civic Center Community Benefit District.

“What began as a public safety hotspot has been transformed into a destination for music, dance, games, and more,” said District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood. “The reimagining of Civic Center and Fulton Plaza shows what’s possible when our community and city come together, and this new investment continues that commitment to return this neighborhood into a thriving hub for downtown.”

“The transformation of the Civic Center area, including Fulton Plaza, demonstrates the power of active public spaces,” said Sarah Madland, San Francisco Recreation and Park Interim General Manager. “Music, culture, recreation, and this year’s addition of rotating food trucks make Fulton Plaza a true hotspot.”

“Our public library is not only a place of knowledge, but also a hub of San Francisco’s creative spirit and arts community,” said Michael Lambert, City Librarian. “By uplifting local musicians and investing in Fulton Plaza as a vibrant space for performance, we affirm that the arts are the heartbeat of a thriving city.”

“Fulton Plaza is being reborn,” said Ben Davis, Founder and Executive Director of Illuminate. “By filling this space with the language of music and the joy of shared experience, we aren’t just hosting concerts—we are weaving the fabric of our community back together. We are proud to partner with the city to ensure that art and light remain at the center of San Francisco’s story.”

“Downtown streets and plazas are alive with events that draw people from across the city and the region,” said Tracy Everwine, Executive Director of the Civic Center Community Benefit District. “It’s especially encouraging to see the growth of weekday programming as more employees are returning to our city, state, and federal offices—it’s bringing real energy back to our civic core.”

Each event will feature three performers spanning a wide range of genres, highlighting local talent alongside notable singer-songwriters. The Civic Center Soundtrack concert series will build on the success of its first two seasons, which brought more than 100 free concerts to the plaza and helped reestablish Fulton Plaza as a gathering place for the community.
