Bay Lights Moving Forward + More Updates!

Our installation of the new Bay Lights exhibit on the Bay Bridge continues! We do not yet have a date for the unveiling, but we are hopeful that it will occur sometime this fall.
We are testing the technology and equipment, addressing concerns as we go, all while working around a complex symphony of routine bridge maintenance. Plus Mother Nature has thrown in a few curveballs.
The manufacturing and installation teams are unified and focused on ensuring a high-quality, long-lasting display that will once again illuminate the Bay Bridge in a stunning showcase of public art.
The AweMobile Has Landed
Last Friday, April 4 we quietly tested our latest contraption—a modified Sprinter van topped with Laser Space Cannons—at Sutro Baths. The result was stunning!
We’ll officially debut it next Tuesday in Civic Center, sending beams of light straight to the dome of City Hall. Join us when it gets dark.

Spectra Now Glows Nightly
Thanks to artist Joshua Hubert and our friends at the San Francisco Public Library, and the SF Recreation and Park Department, a large-scale new artwork called Spectra now shines above Fulton Plaza.
Spanning 1.6 acres, the 1200 programmable LEDs move and shimmer in an audio-reactive display of color and light. Spectra will keep glowing every night for two full years. That’s thanks to partnership, persistence, and shared purpose.

Music Downtown and in the Park
This week, we kicked off Civic Center Soundtrack—bringing gentle, joyful music to the heart of the city in Fulton Plaza.
And over in Golden Gate Park, our beloved Illuminate LIVE concert series has returned, with 125 free shows planned this year to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bandshell. Many thanks to Carla and David Crane and the John and Marcia Goldman Foundation for their continuing support of this extraordinary live music program, which is coordinated by Steffen Franz and his team at IDC.
A complete schedule of our live music events can be found here.

R-Evolution at Market Street
Thursday Night, April 10 with artist Marco Cochrane and Building 180, we unveiled R-Evolution on Market Street, near the Ferry Building. She stands 45-feet tall and weighs 16,000 pounds.
None of it happens without the support of the community, the City, and a whole lot of love.

The Golden Mile Keeps Growing
We continue to breathe life into the Golden Mile Project in Golden Gate Park—thanks to an extraordinary coalition of partners and dreamers. Every visit looks a little different. And that’s the point.
Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming installation of Naga, a giant sea serpent in Rainbow Falls.
